Pyogenic Granuloma
Pyogenic granuloma is a frequently occurring, brittle, vascular origin lesion that develops after skin or mucosal injury.
The lesions are common in children, with approximately the same frequency in both sexes. The lesions that occur in the gums of pregnant women are known as “pregnancy tumors”.
Pyogenic granuloma can be found in any area of the skin but most often develops in the head and neck. Oral mucosal lesions (lips and gums) and upper extremity fingers are also common.
The lesions appear suddenly, they grow rapidly and then, if not treated, they persist for an indefinite period, bleeding easily after minor injuries.
Surgical removal and histological examination provides a definitive solution by eliminating relapses and giving an excellent aesthetic result.
